The Sports Mentions tool tracks what announcers say during NFL and NBA games about specific topics like injuries, All-Star selections, playoffs, MVP candidates, and more.
This data helps you predict what announcers will say during upcoming games by showing historical patterns and current prediction market pricing from Kalshi.
How to access the tool
Access the Sports Mentions tool by clicking Sports Mentions on the sidebar (desktop) or in the horizontally scrolling menu at the top of your screen (mobile).
Understanding the data
The tool shows upcoming and previous games with prediction markets for various announcer mention topics:
- Games – Each row shows a matchup (e.g., Boston Celtics vs. Detroit Pistons)
- Term columns – Categories like "Injury/Injured", "All-Star", "Playoff", "Ankle", "MVP", "Tech/Technical", "Trade", etc.
- Percentages – How often that market settled to Yes in past games (shown at the top of each column)
- YES/NO prices – Prediction market prices in cents for whether announcers will mention that topic during the specific game
- Kalshi button – Click to open that market on Kalshi
- Filter icon – Filter to show only a specific team or game
How to use the data
Look for games where announcer mentions are likely based on what's happening in the league:
- Use the filter – Click the filter icon to focus on a specific team or game you know well
- Consider league context – Think about what's going on in the league, including timeline factors like how close to All-Star game, end of season when MVP chatter picks up, playoff races heating up, etc.
- Compare prices – If a player is nursing an ankle injury, the "Ankle" and "Injury" markets might be underpriced
Click the Kalshi button next to any market to open it up in Kalshi.
Tips for success
- Watch for injury news – if a star player is questionable, "Injury" mentions are more likely
- National TV games get more in-depth analysis and storylines from announcers
- Rivalry games and playoff-race matchups drive more discussion of stakes and context
- Check the "Previous Games" section to see historical outcomes and patterns
- Green checkmarks (✓) mean announcers DID mention the topic; red X means they didn't
